Chill-Out Chair!!!!
Because of some generous donations over the holiday season, enough was raised to get Shianne a Chill-Out Chair. The bike will be next.
Let's get Shianne riding her very own bike and chilling out in a new chair!!!
We the parents of Shianne Hiebert would like to tell you a little bit about her. She was born on February 13, 1996 via c-section. She was a twin (would have been born second), and we miscarried her twin around four months pregnant. When she was born, we could see that she was different....meaning she was floppy, wobbly, etc. Shianne did not crawl or walk till she was three years old. The only thing she could do (with difficulty) was to scoot on her butt. When Shianne was born we were told that she would probably never walk because her muscles etc were not working properly. Not until we had our second child did Shianne learn to crawl, pull herself up etc. We carried her until she was three years old and sometimes even at a later age because she just could not do it.

We had been trying to figure out what the problem was since she was born, but it seemed like no one knew what was wrong. We have seen her in a lot of pain over the years. We have seen many tears. We have seen a lot of trouble walking, playing outside, enjoying life etc. Shianne is a very special girl with a huge heart and big smile. Even now when you see her and ask her how she is doing....she would more than likely look at you and say, "I'm still walking and smiling." Shianne has such a positive attitude, even when she is in severe pain she still has time and energy to smile. The only way she makes it through her pain is that she relies on God, her family, friends and her regular exercises.

She has seen a lot of doctors, specialists, had numerous x-rays and much more done to see what was wrong. Finally, after 13 years of wondering, we found out what she has is called HYPERMOBILITY SYNDROME & HYPOTONIA. Which means...she dislocates very easily, has very low muscle tone, get tired very fast etc. Shianne is in pain constantly and swells a lot. Her body always changes from day-to-day. She has a real tough time going for walks (but now has a wheel chair) and can enjoy long outings. She is in physiotherapy and in an exercise program for life. Shianne has to adjust her life to accommodate her disability and now with the help of some leg and ankle braces this can slowly be done. Shianne is a very special gift from God and we treasure every moment with her (along with her sister). Even through all the tears and the struggles Shianne has a huge heart and a lot of love to give. She is a helper in Kidzland in church, she goes to youth, and she loves children and likes to help where she can and when she can.

We hope we have shown you how special this young girl is to us and we hope you can see Shianne is truly a gift from God. As you can see from the pictures she enjoys life. Thank you for hearing our story about a wonderful girl.
